I’ve been busy, honest…

So, it’s been a while. How have you been? Yes, I know you haven’t heard from me for a while, but I have had my reasons, honest!
I’ve been going through a flare up of my fibro and haven’t been firing on all cylinders for a couple of weeks. I’m improving again and I hope to be 100% – or as near to it as i get – very soon.
I’ve also been spending time building up my own little business, Meldrum Media, and have a few satisfied clients already. In fact, I’ve been so busy working for other people that my own business website has had to take second place and still needs quite a bit of work doing to it.
The project which has taken up most of my time recently is #TweeHee, a campaign where I am trying to raise money for Sane, a fabulous mental health charity which does so much to raise awareness and provide support for those suffering with mental illness. As you know from my last blog post, I suffer from depression and am angry at the stigma attached to it.
What’s #TweeHee, I hear you ask. Good question.
We are collecting jokes on twitter which we aim to compile into a book to be called Crying With Laughter with all proceeds going to Sane. We have had amazing support, including a shout out from the High Priest of Twitter himself, Stephen Fry. Comedy legends such as Milton Jones and Jimmy Cricket have donated jokes, as have such luminaries as Richard ‘Pointless’ Osman, Davina McCall and Alastair Campbell. A whole host of comedy writers and stand ups have written jokes especially for #TweeHee and I am incredibly grateful for their support.
But we need more.
If you feel you can help us, tweet your joke with the #TweeHee hashtag. Full details of the project can be found here. And if you, or anyone you know, is high profile, we’d especially like to hear from you. It’s the big names which will get us a traditional publishing contract and sales once published.
We’ll be collecting jokes from all and sundry until September 30th but will keep on squirrelling away to ensnare celebrities until we get 140 of the blighters.
Thank you for bearing with me.

Nettie – Glad to see you back and that you’re feeling a bit more like yourself. Good news about your business doing well too even if it does keep you busier these days. And thanks for the reminder of #Tweehee. I absolutely love the idea, and I am keeping my ears open for jokes that fit the format.

The very best of luck with this, Nettie. My mind is a bit thin on the joke front at the moment, but I am cheering you on from the sidelines. And do hope your fibro behaves better soon.

Nettie, I’m sorry to hear the fibro is playing up. It’s hard to keep going on those day I know. Would it be ok to put up a blog post called #tweehee and copy and paste your description of it over, obviously saying in the post it’s a straight copy with a link back here? I think it’s a great cause and would love to support it.

I would be delighted, thank you so much xxx

Thank you for your kind permission Nettie. It’s only a small blog, but I’ve posted and I hope it raises a little more awareness and response. x

  5. […] Below is a direct copy and paste from Nettie’s post in relation to what #TweeHee is. I asked if I could copy and paste as I felt Nettie would do it more justice than I could. You can find the post Here. […]
